ANC Summarizer 12/15

Filed under: Uncategorized —— hammaads @ 2:44 pm

As a summarizer this week my job was to summarize very important and intresting parts of the book. One of the most intresting events I have summarized was in pg.81 when Mary says in the book, “I was suprised he had the energy to run but he started tearing aroung pretending he was some kind of monster making these horrible noises and at first we all thought it was funy to see him like that, but then he kept it up, and I have to admit even I was scared because he would grab one of us and drag us off until the other would come and pull the other captive free.” This event was important becasue it talks about Carl Ray’s attitude at the picnic on how playful and energetic he was. It is summarized that Carl Ray is very mysterious and can have any suprise ready. It is unexpected that Carl Ray, all seeming-to-be-dull-and-boring, can actually just run around play with little kids, and have fun. Carl Ray seems to have a very unknown characteristics. It’s as if you never know what he will do at any time. Carl Ray, in this event of the book, suprises Mary Lou in the behavior he had at the picnic.

ANC Questions for Monday, December 11

Filed under: Uncategorized —— hammaads @ 2:57 pm

(1) Describe Beth Ann’s new behavior. How does Mary Lou feel about it?

Beth Ann’s new behavior is more of a lovey dovey type of behavior, ever since she met with Judy’s boyfriend’s brother, Derek. She uses the word “divine” a lot when she talks about him and she seems to be really hooked on him. She starts talking like,”it was di-viiiiiiiiiiine,” or “he’s truly precious.” Her tone starts to talk in a romantic way. Beth Ann will rarely call or meet Mary, and when she does, it’s just for a short period of time. Mary Lou feels quite disgusted in Beth Ann’s new attitude, because in pg.48, at the bottom, Mary Lou says “Truly precious. I thought I was going to gag. She sounded just like Christy and Megan at school.” Mary Lou also states on pg.49 that Beth Ann is driving her crazy because Beth Ann normally tells Mary about a date, event, or occasion with lots of detail, but instead now Beth Ann is hardly giving any detail and Mary is now asking questions on what go’s on.

(2) How does Mary Lou react when Mr. Furtz die?

When Mr. Furtz die Mary reacts with much worry. Mary starts worrying very dearly about her parents because she keeps wanting them to stay healthy and take vitamins, because she said that Mr.Furtz seemed to be really healthy and now he is dead. Mary Lou also starts to read “Odssey” books written by someone named Homer,to get her mind off of this Mr. Furtz-is-dead buissness. She also starts talking about Greek Gods and what they could be doing. In pg. 62 she talks about the what the Gods may be doing in deciding as in asking,”Should Mary Lou Finney die today?” Mary also, on pg.63 the beginning of Friday, June 29, says,”I will never forget tonight as long as I live (and hey, Zeus, I would like that to be quite a bit longer, please). Mary Lou basically is worried about if her parents will die and if they stay healthy, starts reading “Odssey” books, and starts talking about Greek Gods.

ANC Connector 12/8

Filed under: Uncategorized —— hammaads @ 2:55 pm

My job as a connector required me to connect parts in the story related to parts in real life, books, movies, and other catagories. One of my most admired connections I have made is “Then she threw herself  down on her bed and started pounding and sobbing,” from pg.23. This is what I admire very much because it reminds me when I was 7 years, very well, when I would have a temper tantrum and do the exact same thing. I would, for example, have a tantrum if I couldn’t get a toy I wanted, and the first thing I did was run to my room, with my teeth clenched, and jump on my bed, just like Maggie when she threw herself on her bed. Then, as hard as I could, I would pound my bed again and again for a long time, just releasing my anger in every hit. As I also would sob, just how Maggie did, so long that by the time I was finished, it was as if I couldn’t breath and tears were all over me, with my eyes, red with veins from all the tears, hardly blinking.

ANC Passage Master 12/1

Filed under: Uncategorized —— hammaads @ 2:57 pm

As a Passage Master I had tons of passages recorded with many reasons why I recorded them. Although one of them is a passage what I find being the most creative and intresting passage I have picked out of all of them. In the story the author, on pg.10, the last sentence before “Thursday, June 14,” it seems as if the author is talking to the reader. The author says “for your sake, though, mystery reader, I hope things get a little more intresting. God,” it’s like as if she were to be talking to you in-person when really she isn’t. It was clever how when she said “for your sake, though, mystery reader,” because that tells you that she is talking to the reader which makes things much more intresting and enjoyable to read. I picked this passage because I liked how she said “God,” with a period following it because it was creative how she expressed her thoughts with just one phrase instead of spending time giving details about her thoughts in opinions, she just went straight in by saying “God.”

October 16 Questions

Filed under: Uncategorized —— hammaads @ 2:10 pm

(1)Why was Paul content to be backup goalie?

Paul was content about being backup goalie because he was proud that he can at least have a chance to play in a soccer game. As for in Lake Winsdor Middle School he couldn’t play because of his IEP that his mom filled out for him meanining he was handicapped. He also can see how everyone on the team plays, since they are experts, and learn moves from them and more tricks while playing soccer. Paul knew that at some soccer games  the team had to play that he would be called in to take over for the goalie, and to him, that chance was quite high, for, goalie’s get hurt alot and needs backups to fill in for them. So in this case, even being a backup goalie, Paul was proud, at least, to be on the team and to play.

(2)What happened when Paul went in to the soccer game for Victor? What was Victor’s reaction?

What happened was that Paul, when, he filled in he didn’t know to play offense as well. Paul just acted along just running with his team members as they just shot goals. Sooner or later Paul was in front of the goal with the ball, where he shot, and made it in! No one celebrated though for his shot, but to Paul it seemed like an accomplishment. At the end of the game when Victor returned after getting his cut stitched up(since he was already cut in is forehead and that he now hit the ball with his head so now it is bleading and it he had to get it stitched), and he asked Paul,”Hey Fisher Man! How many goals did you score for me?” Where Paul said,”Sorry Victor, only one,”but Victor didn’t become furious or angry, instead he gave Paul a high-five.

(3)Why didn’t Maya need Mrs. Fisher’s encouragement?”

Maya did not need encouragement from Mrs. Fisher because she plays with boys on her team, and she is one of the best strikers. She is one of the starters like Victor and Tino. Paul explains that even Maya, as a girl, can make it to the All-County as a girl. So the encouragement is not needed for Maya is extremely great at playing soccer even with boys. This fact suprised mom so much since it had to do with a girl that she called, “Tangerine Times,”  and told them that she, a girl, was one of the best soccer players and may even make the All-County, even as a girl.

Tangerine by Edward Bloor

Filed under: Uncategorized —— hammaads @ 1:54 pm

There is many types of music I can use for background music if I were making ” Tangerine” into a movie. Although the music I think is best go with Tangerine as background music is for  dramatic events in where a character has fear should be a frightful and horror type of music because at one time of the book Paul is flashbacking when he is being chased by a black car and a mysterious man hidden under a ski mask, who Paul blames is his brother Erik, has a steel bat swinging it at Paul himself ,attempting to kill him, when he only smashes Paul on his face onto the ground without his glasses breaking, where Paul leaves his bike where it was and sprints as fast as he could home speechless. The best background music for an exciting event where the character is enjoying a fascanating time and/or has confidence is something will occur is violens making a soft  and smooth sound and a piano playing wildly to bring things to a time where everyone feels wonderful. For example when a time Paul was at his new school, Lake Winsdor Middle Scool, in Tangeriune Florida, he discovers a soccer team and wants to join it and play as goalie where he met other kids playing soccer and saw the team’s last-year goalie who didn’t do a very impressive job and Paul figured out he was a better goalie so he might actually make it to the team. These music I talk about is what you except in much more other music like dramatic “Star Wars” music or “The Wizard Of Oz” exciting type of music. The music I chose for “Tangerine” will not be only good for a movie but also a book if you imagine it in your mind.

Snapshot Friday 9/15

Filed under: Uncategorized —— hammaads @ 1:46 pm

(1)This snapshot is mostly about how many televisions work in one house. For Example: 54% more people has three or more televisions working in their house.

(2) The title is “Working TVs at home.”The pictures with the title fit because there is a sattelite on the very top of the house which gives a TV channels to watch what you want.

(3)The way data is presented is in a sattelite dish form to make it interseting for the reader. The type of graph it is,is a circle graph/pie chart and the types of numbers used are percantage.

(4)I learned that many people has at least three or more televisions sets working as for others has only two or less working or not even any to work.
